our credo
What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
A simple question, but so telling. What would be on your list? At olive hill we challenge you to shift your focus from what hinders you, to one that moves you to envisioning the actions you will take to bring about the change you want to see.
We all have within us the ability to do remarkable things. Human potential is wonderful. It can bring to market vaccines which use to take 10 years, in one year. One year! It took a pandemic to singularly focus our attention to address an emergent need. Fortunately, you don't need a pandemic to have a paradigm shift in your thinking, in your workspace, or in your boardroom. You've already acknowledged that the outcome is well worth the investment in yourself and/or your organization, so let's get started.

empowering those who have yet to have the full weight of their voices heardolive hill was born out of contemplation of what it means to continue a family legacy. A legacy that was instilled in Robin by observing her mother’s positive impact on others and taking from that the lesson that the real riches are not attained by striving for personal success, but rather tapping ones talents to invest, whether large or small, acknowledged or unseen, in the betterment of those around us.
|
It is not lost on us that in America, only 29% of Senior Leadership positions are held by women*, and the higher up the ladder you go, the less women you will see. For every one company run by a woman, 13 companies are run by men. If first level women were hired and promoted like men, there would be one million more women in management in the next five years.
And despite the growing business case for diversity, companies are still struggling to make meaningful advancements on diversity. NASDAQ, has said it best: "[a]t a time when companies are trying to untangle what the next normal will look like, it’s more important than ever before for boards to walk the talk when it comes to diversity and inclusion. One of the most fundamental ways to begin this process is by taking an honest and candid look at the board's current composition, evaluate it, and determine where it needs to be."
We should do better; we can do better and there is no time like right now to make it happen.
our founderRobin Tompkins is the founder and principal of olive hill. She is often characterized by her ability to be an empathetic extrovert, who can help those around her see and tap their true potential. Her keen ability to harmonize discordant views without sacrificing nuance and texture gives her great joy. Her love of taking the journey to learn along the way, fuels her passion to continuously improve.
Whether in her professional career, volunteerism and philanthropic endeavors, Robin has sought to bring a unique, visionary eye to problem solving. Her interest in the intersection of an entrepreneurial approach to social issues pre-dated the now-known concept of social impact investing. She’s committed to amplifying those leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and companies who dare to say, why not us, why not now, let me show you the way. It is a family legacy she wishes to pass down to her daughters, Olivia and Hilary and it is woven into the ethos of olive hill. |
